Liz became a certified Colon Hydrotherapist after a successful career in the banking and real estate management industries. She held multiple management and leadership positions in these industries. Liz’s interest in Colon Hydrotherapy started 29 years ago due to her own medical necessity. She therfore pursued the field first as a client and then, based on successful results from treatment, became more interested in pursuing it as a therapist. As she became more passionate about this new field, it became clear that this would become her personal and professional focus. She then pursued and achieved her certification and started her practice in 2008. Liz believes in treating the person as a whole and that Colon Hydrotherapy can be one step in a holistic process of managing one’s health and wellbeing. She has often identified resources and holistic alternatives for her clients that have other needs which often come to light during the process of providing colon hydrotherapy. It is this connection between colon health and overall wellbeing that drives Liz and her practice methods.

Benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy

Due to colon irrigation’s overall effects nearly everyone can benefit from Colon Hydrotherapy. The fast-paced lifestyle today is tough on the digestive system. We are putting the wrong food in our bodies and overtaxing our pristine natural defenses. It only makes sense that any accumulated backlog of over processes, hormone and pesticide laden foods lodged in the digestive tract can eventually leach over to the rest of the body’s systems. Along with the benefits of the new GLPs ( weight loss medications) one of the main side effects is constipation which can be relieved by colon hydrotherapy. Improved hydration encourages cleansing of the colon resulting in the propulsion of its contents.

Colon hydrothereapy ( sometimes called a colonic) is a cleansing process of the large intestine ( colon) using purified water. We use an FDA approved Angel of Water Hydrotherapy system which is the most advanced system in the world for lower bowel cleansing. The system allows for the ultimate in comfort, sanitation, privacy and dignity. During the colon hydrothereapy session which typically lasts 45-60 minutes, the client inclines on the padded backrest portion of the Angel of Water system. Therefore, the lower body is comfortable and positioned over the bidet type basin. The client inserts the sterile disposable rectal nozzle him/herself and purified water is instilled into the lower bowel. Finally, the flow of water initiates the elimination of waste through natural peristalsis.

Understanding your colon

The colon is also called the large intestine. The ileum (last part of the small intestine) connects to the cecum (first part of the colon) in the lower right abdomen. The rest of the colon is divided into four parts:

1.)The ascending colon travels up the right side of the abdomen.

2.)The transverse colon runs across the abdomen.

3.)The descending colon travels down the left abdomen.

4.) The sigmoid colon is a short curving of the colon, just before the rectum.

The colon removes water, salt, and some nutrients forming stool. Muscles line the colon’s walls, squeezing its contents along. Billions of bacteria coat the colon and its contents, living in a healthy balance with the body.

History of Colon Hydrotherapy

A centuries old practice reborn:

The process of using colon hydrotherapy therfore has spanned at least a few thousand years of recorded history. An early papyrus text known as the Eber Papyrus records colon irrigation around 1500 B.C. Any process that survives that length of time clearly has something to offer.

Ancient Civilizations: Egyptians, Sumerians, Chinese, Hindus, Greeks, & Romans certainly used enemas for medicinal purposes.

17th Century: Use of enemas, called clysters, became quite popular in the 17th Century, moreover, It was common to add color and fragrance to the fluid in the clyster, and it was not unusual for people to have as many as three to four daily. For example, it is recorded that King Louis XIII had more than 200 enemas in one year.

19th Century: Over time, improvements were made in the process, which became known as colon hydrotherapy.

20th Century: Moving forward, J.H. Kellogg, MD, of Battle Creek Michigan and the cereal company of the same name is responsible for popularizing colon hydrotherapy in the United States. As a result, he reported in 1917, in the Journal of the American Medical Association that he was able to treat all but 20 of 40,0000 gastrointestinal patients using only diet and enemas- no surgery.

21st Century: Liz Marcano- Pucillo, certified Colon Hydrotherapist opened the Internal Wellness Center using the Angel of Water CM-1 System.
